Personally, I make the Butter Chicken with the traditional method. Now the Traditional method means the method from which you will get a real taste of butter chicken. I love spicy food, so I love to make the butter chicken more spicy. And really the spicy taste gives the best version to your butter chicken.

Firstly make the Yogurt Marinade which includes the following items like yogurt, fresh garlic, and ginger. Use boneless and skinless chicken thighs or breasts. Get what type of meat you love and make the butter chicken with that.

  • Firstly, Make the Marinade mix with adding Chicken in it. (Wash the Chicken pieces with fresh Water)
  • Now marinade the Chicken for 1-hour minimum, because of the taste. How longer you will marinate your chicken makes your butter chicken tasty.
  • Sear the chicken pieces in a pan by adding some oil to them.

Butter Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

For the marination:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (coriander leaves) for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients listed under “marination” and mix well. Cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (overnight is best for maximum flavor).
  2. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add the ground coriander, ground cumin, garam masala, and chili powder to the pan. Stir well to combine and let the spices cook for a minute to release their flavors.
  5. Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and cook the mixture until the tomatoes break down and the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Using an immersion blender or transferring the mixture to a regular blender, blend the sauce until smooth and creamy. If using a regular blender, be careful as the mixture will be hot.
  7. Return the blended sauce to the pan. Stir in the marinated chicken pieces along with any remaining marinade.
  8. Add the chicken broth or water to adjust the consistency of the sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook over low to medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  9. Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  10. Taste the sauce and add salt if needed.
  11. Garnish with chopped cilantro (coriander leaves) before serving.
