Soak urad dal for hours, then grind into a smooth paste with saffron and cardamom.

Make a sugar syrup of one-string consistency.

Heat ghee or oil in a deep pan for frying.

Pour urad dal batter into a cloth or piping bag, and pipe spiral shapes directly into hot oil/ghee.

Fry until golden on both sides, then soak imarti in warm sugar syrup for a few minutes.

Take soaked imarti out of syrup, arrange on a plate, and serve this sweet and syrupy dessert.
